Liverpool have had a £40million bid accepted by Roma for Mohamed Salah as they prepare to complete their second signing of the summer, according to King Fut.

The Egyptian publication claim that the wide forward is heading to Merseyside to put the finishing touches to a transfer that will break Liverpool’s transfer record.

King Fut report that Salah has booked his flight ticket and will undergo medical tests at the Premier League giants on Tuesday after the terms of a £39.4million deal were finalised on Saturday.

Liverpool have been in extensive talks with Roma since the start of June to sign the Egypt international.

It has been reported that Liverpool’s first bid came in at £28.5million for Salah but Roma have held firm in their valuation and the English club will pay another £11million to seal the deal.

It will shatter the Merseyside giants’ transfer record, which remains the £35million deal that brought Andy Carroll from Newcastle United in January 2011, although add-ons could take Sadio Mane beyond that fee after he joined from Southampton 12 months ago for £34million rising to a potential £38million.

Roma have admitted they have been in negotiations to sell Salah to a Premier League club although they did not name the team.

Liverpool have pushed so strongly to sign Salah following an outstanding 2016-17 season in which he scored 19 goals and supplied 15 assists in 41 matches in all competitions for the Serie A outfit, with 15 of his 31 goals coming in league matches alone.

He is heading to the Premier League for the second time following a difficult two-and-a-half year spell at Chelsea.
