Mohamed Salah is set to be confirmed as a Liverpool player within days as prepares to put the final touches to his transfer from Roma, according to a reliable journalist.

Sky journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported on his personal website that extensive negotiations between the two clubs have resulted in an agreement, which allows wide forward Salah to sign for a second Premier League club.

Di Marzio reports that the Egypt international will fly to England on Tuesday and undergo medical tests with the Merseyside giants on Wednesday.

It is said that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be waiting to greet Salah with open arms as he lands one of his priority summer targets.

The fourth-placed team in 2016-17 have already signed young forward Dominic Solanke from Chelsea this summer but he is regarded as one for the future and will start off in the development squad with the Under-23s.

By contrast, Salah will be expected to immediately challenge for a first-team spot and make a major contribution to an attack that appeared one dimensional in the second half of last season.

The 25-year-old arrives at Anfield following the best season of his career, in which he was the outstanding player in a Roma side that challenged strongly for the Serie A title before eventually finishing second to Juventus.

Salah scored 19 goals and supplied 15 assists from 41 matches in all competitions, including 15 goals and 13 assists from 31 league fixtures.

Egyptian outlet King Fut claimed at the weekend that Liverpool will pay a club-record £39.4million for Salah after a number of lower bids were rejected.
