Liverpool have added their name to the lengthening list of those elite clubs interested in Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe, according to the Mail.

The newspaper claim that manager Jurgen Klopp “has made contact with Mbappe’s agents” as interest in the teenager heats up further.

The Mail reports that Liverpool have been keeping close tabs on the France sensation for a year and that Klopp has “held preliminary talks with his representatives”.

It is said that Real Madrid remain favourites to prise the brilliant 18-year-old from Monaco, where he has progressed through the ranks to take world football by storm in the recent domestic season.

The Champions League winners are willing to pay more than £100million for Europe’s most in-demand teenager to head off interest from the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

Mbappe’s brilliant displays as the spearhead of a thrilling front line helped Monaco win Ligue 1 and reach the Champions League semi-finals.

He demonstrated he is already a genuine world beater with 26 goals and 14 assists from 44 matches in all competitions, including six in nine Champions League encounters.

This came after he did not even nail down a place in the Monaco team until October.

Mbappe, who has already been capped twice by France, may come face-to-face with England in Paris on Tuesday as the host nation prepare to ring the changes after their 2-1 World Cup qualifying defeat to Sweden last Friday.
