Liverpool are heavy odds-on favourites to sign Roma wide midfielder Mohamed Salah this summer, according to bookmakers.

Sky Bet priced the Merseyside giants at 1/1o on Monday morning to land the former Chelsea flop from the Italian club before the transfer window shuts on 3 September.

The betting company regard Liverpool as a long way ahead of their rivals in the race to land the goal machine, with Arsenal (22/1), Tottenham (25/1) and Chelsea (33/1) all priced at distant odds.

This comes after widespread reports in the UK, Italy and in Salah’s native Egypt that Jurgen Klopp’s side are close to signing the wide man on the back of an outstanding campaign.

Sky Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his personal website that the Merseyside giants are in advanced negotiations with Roma after making an increased bid for the Egypt international.

Di Marzio reports that Liverpool have offered £28million plus bonuses for Salah and are close to settling the terms of a four-year contract worth £84,000-a-week including top-up bonuses.

Salah has been in prime form for Roma in the recently completed season, scoring 19 goals and supplying 15 assists in 41 matches in all competitions, with 15 of his 31 goals coming in league matches alone.

He signed for the Italian outfit permanently in the summer of 2016 from Chelsea after initially impressing on a season-long loan, and he has flourished in Rome.

Klopp is keen to strengthen a Liverpool attack that looked one-paced during the absences of Sadio Mane, who made a huge impact after joining from Southampton last summer.

Like Mane, Salah is predominantly a right-sided player and possesses the ability to penetrate defences with his speed and mobility as well as being a prolific goalscorer.
