Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Roma midfielder Mohamed Salah, according to a reliable journalist.

Sky Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his personal website that the Merseyside giants are continuing negotiations with the Serie A club after making an increased bid for the Egypt international.

Di Marzio reports that Liverpool have offered £28million plus bonuses for Salah, who is valued at £39.3million by Roma.

However, it is said by the transfer expert that a bid of £35million could be enough to seal the deal for the wide midfielder, who is close to agreeing personal terms with the Premier League club.

The 24-year-old and the club have nearly settled a four-year contract worth £84,000-a-week including top-up bonuses.

Salah has been in prime form for Roma this term, scoring 19 goals and supplying 15 assists in 41 matches in all competitions, with 15 of his 31 goals coming in league matches alone.

He signed for the Italian outfit permanently in the summer of 2016 from Chelsea after initially impressing on a season-long loan, and he has flourished in Rome.

The Egyptian was deployed by manager Luciano Spalletti in a number of roles in the recently completed season, primarily as a right-winger, but he has featured on the left, and as a central attacking midfielder.

Salah has been capped 52 times by Egypt, scoring 29 goals, and he played in all six games of their 2017 African Cup of Nations campaign.
