Chelsea are set to receive £2.7million when Roma attacking midfielder Mohamed Salah completes his move to Liverpool this summer, according to the Times.

The newspaper claims that the Merseyside club are on the brink of securing a £39million deal for the 25-year-old midfielder, but the Premier League champions will receive a small amount of the fee due to sell-on clause agreed with Serie A club.

The Times reports that London club managed to negotiate a sell-on clause worth ten percent of the Italian club’s profit when the Egyptian left Stamford Bridge to join Roma for £12million at the start of the 2016-17 campaign.

With Liverpool set to smash their transfer record, which currently is the £35million signing of Andy Carroll in 2011, the profit on Salah will be £27million.

Salah was unable to become a first-team regular as he only managed to make 19 appearances in all competitions during his short spell at Stamford Bridge.

The winger was sent out on loan to Roma at the beginning of the 2015-16 campaign and he produced some outstanding performances leading the Serie A side to sign him on a permanent deal the following season.

The Egyptian was sensational once again for the Italian side last season, scoring 19 goals and providing 15 assists.

Salah is set for a return to the Premier League next season and he will surely want to demonstrate that he has the quality to perform in the top tier of English football.
