Huddersfield Town have emerged as the new hot favourites to sign Leeds striker Chris Wood, according to the latest betting odds.

Leading bookmaker Sky Bet have priced the recently promoted Premier League club at 9/2 to land the signature of the 25-year-old before September 3.

Prior to the Terriers being favourites, Middlesbrough, who were relegated to the Championship this term, were the front-runners for his signature at 6/1.

Now, the north east club are priced at 8/1 to sign Leeds’ key man as they are closely followed by Premier League duo Crystal Palace (9/1) and Swansea (10/1).

There would be no surprise if Wood’s name were to be attracting the attention of Premier League clubs or any other Championship side.

The New Zealand international recently concluded the campaign by finishing as the top scorer in the second division by scoring 27 goals from his 44 matches.

Before April, it was looking likely that Wood’s team was going to secure a play-off spot before four defeats during the penultimate month of the campaign ended those hopes.

As a result, manager Garry Monk abruptly left his post with the club’s new owner, Andrea Radrizzani now looking for a new face to sit in the Elland Road dugout.

Nonetheless, Huddersfield went on to secure promotion to the top tier when they beat Jaap Stam’s Reading in the play-off final at Wembley in May.
