Premier League duo West Ham and Stoke are ‘keen’ on Leeds striker Chris Wood, according to reliable journalist David Anderson.

The Daily Mirror reporter has stated on his personal Twitter account that recently promoted Huddersfield are not looking to sign the 25-year-old, but West Ham and Stoke are keen.

The New Zealand international recently concluded the Championship season by claiming the Golden Boot award in the second tier of English football.

“I am told Huddersfield are not in for Leeds striker Chris Wood,” said Anderson. “But Stoke and West Ham are keen on the prolific Kiwi striker.”

This follows a report in the Sun that said Huddersfield were in the box seat for Wood’s signature.

Wood struck 27 league goals from his 44 matches, added with his three strikes in the EFL Cup. Despite his success on the field of play though, Leeds failed to secure a top-six spot.

Wood enjoyed great success under the management of Garry Monk, who has since left the club and joined Middlesbrough, being a key component in his 4-2-3-1 formation.

During his career, Wood has only played nine Premier League matches and that was for Leicester City, a club he left for Leeds in 2015.

Both West Ham and Stoke finished in the bottom half of the Premier League table, with the Hammers particularly struggling to adapt to their new London Stadium.

Slaven Bilic’s side, who spent £20million on Swansea forward Andre Ayew last summer, flirted with relegation and suffered a number of heavy defeats.

Stoke completed the signing of Saido Berahino from West Brom for a fee of £12million during the January transfer window, but he is yet to score a goal for the club.
