Everton are preparing to obliterate their transfer record to prise Moussa Dembele from Celtic this summer, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim that the cash-rich Merseysiders have turned their attention to signing the French striker amid reports they have finalised the signing of Malaga forward Sandro Ramirez.

Daily Mail reporter Dominic King has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Toffees will confirm the signing of Ramirez within the next 48 hours after he completed a medical.

But manager Ronald Koeman, who has already signed goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for £30million from Sunderland and playmaker Davy Klaassen for £24million from Ajax has sanctioned another mega-money pursuit.

The Sun report that Dembele is being targeted by Everton as a direct replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who is set to join Chelsea or Manchester United

With Lukaku set to join either Chelsea or Man United in a deal worth upwards of £80m Everton will have the funds to compete with a host of top European clubs chasing the 20-year-old Hoops hitman.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Juventus and AC Milan have all expressed an interest in the French Under 21 international.

However, Koeman is hoping the lure of regular first team football on Merseyside will help give them an edge during any potential talks.

Celtic would prefer to keep Dembele in Scotland for at least another season although they would find it almost impossible to turn down £30m given they paid Fulham just £400,000 for the player 12 months ago.
