Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu is set to return to La Liga giants Barcelona this summer, according to the Times.

The newspaper claims that the Catalan side are set to activate their buyout clause for the 23-year-old which see around £10.5million go to the Merseyside club this summer.

The deal would mean that Everton would make a significant profit on the player who signed for the Premier League club from Barcelona for a fee of just over £5million two years ago.

This story comes after the report in Gazzetta Dello Sport which claimed that Deulofeu was not keen on a return to Goodison Park next season following his loan spell with Serie A side AC Milan.

The Spaniard announced himself to the Premier League during the 2013-14 campaign where he enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Merseyside club, scoring four goals and providing five assists in 29 appearances.

The Toffees signed the youngster on a permanent deal in 2015 but he failed to find consistency and he was unable to replicate his fantastic performances from his loan spell.

New manager Ronald Koeman was unimpressed with the Spaniard during the early stages of last season and he was allowed to join Milan on loan during the January transfer window.

Deulofeu produced some impressive displays for the Italian side, scoring four goals in 17 appearances last season.

The winger is currently on international duty captaining the Spain Under-21 national team in the European Championships in Poland.
