Arsenal are ready to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for £25million this summer with Liverpool set to swoop, according to the Independent.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Gunners are looking to offload a whole host of first team and fringe players in order to to meet new financial regulations coming in next season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has 27 caps for England, is set to be out of contract next summer, and with the 23-year-old looking unlikely to sign a new deal with Arsenal, the Independent claim that they are prepared to let him depart for £25million this summer.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the versatile midfielder this summer, although Sky Sports report that Chelsea and Manchester City were also considering monitoring his position at the Emirates Stadium.

The new rules regarding wages state that a club should not increase their current expenditure on wages by more than £7million from the last season, and that if it does exceed the limit, then it must be funded by the likes of income from player and/or ticket sales.

With Arsene Wenger desperate to meet Alex Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s wage demands to keep them at the club, it appears that the 67-year-old is willing to sanction the sales of players deemed surplus to requirements.

However, one player that the Independent claim will remain in North London is Hector Bellerin, with Arsenal said to be standing firm despite being linked with a move to his former side Barcelona.

Goal also claim that Wenger wants to keep a hold of striker Lucas Perez, although cannot guarantee the game time the 29-year-old is looking for.
