Chelsea have joined Liverpool and Manchester city in the hunt for Arsenal and England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to Sky Sports.

The sports news broadcaster claims on the transfer centre blog on their website on Monday (17:03) that the Blues are the third Premier League side looking to snatch up the 23-year-old from their top flight rivals.

This comes after the Times reported on Sunday that the 23-year-old has made up his mind to quit Arsenal and his “priority” is to find a new club before pre-season training starts at the beginning of July.

The 27-time-capped England star endured a frustrating last season for Arsenal, starting just 16 Premier League matches as a series of injuries reduced his game time, while the Gunners were only able to finish sixth and as a result miss out on Champions League football next season.

Despite his injury layoffs, it appears that there is set to be a three way fight for his signature this summer, with each of the clubs able to offer the former Southampton man the chance to continue playing in Europe’s top competition.

Oxlade-Chamberlain began his career as a right winger but has recently operated out of a central midfield role for both Arsene Wenger at Arsenal and under Gareth Southgate for England.

Any interested clubs may be looking to secure the Gunners star on a cut price deal, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2018, having been at the North London side since the summer of 2011.
