Manchester City set to table bid for 28-year-old striker

|

Manchester City are preparing a bid for Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to a report in The Sun.

The newspaper has revealed that City boss Pep Guardiola is set to offer a mega-money bid for the Bundesliga goal-machine.

The Sun claim that Guardiola could have to offer a mammoth sum up to £61 million to secure the Gabon forward’s move to the Etihad.

The Gabon captain impressed the City boss after the 28-year-old was the highest scorer in the Bundesliga last season when he netted a staggering 31 goals in 32 appearances throughout the competition.

His goal-scoring efforts helped Dortmund finish in third place in the league, and it is reported that the Manchester club have joined the fight to sign the star this summer.

It is said that a number of clubs are now interested in the former St Etienne striker, including Premier League rivals Liverpool as  the ex-Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp is expected to chase a reunion with the goal-machine.

Before his success with Dortmund the 28-year-old signed for French club St Etienne for less than £1 million after he was previously loaned to the club from AC Milan.

The Gabon international has been at the club since 2013, and his contract at the Westfalenstadion runs until 2020, however the report claims that Abameyang is expected to make a departure this summer.
