Leeds would give their promotion hopes a huge boost if they can beat Burnley to the signature of Stoke forward Jonathan Walters.

The Daily Mail claims the Clarets are keen on the 33-year-old forward, who would cost either Burnley or Leeds £3million in the summer transfer window.

Walters wants to leave Stoke after becoming disillusioned with a lack of game time at the Britannia Stadium, which saw him start only 13 games under manager Mark Hughes in the Premier League.

Now, Walters is considering his options and Burnley remain in pole position for the 49-time Ireland international with the window set to open in just three days’ time.

This Is Futbol analyses three reasons why Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen must do all he can to convince Walters to step down a division and prove a key part of the Whites’ promotion push in the Championship next season.
