During the summer of 2014 teenager Dan Crowley made the decision to move to Arsenal from his boyhood club of Aston Villa.

The 19-year-old was looking to enhance his career as he made a step up to a team who at the time were playing in the Champions League.

By contrast, Villa were struggling in the top tier of English football and they were subsequently relegated to the Championship in 2016.

Attacking midfielder Crowley is yet to make his senior debut for Arsenal but he has had numerous loan spells at League One side Oxford and Dutch outfit Go Ahead Eagles.

Villa desperately require a player that can operate in behind the striker and add that much-needed creativity from the middle of the park.

Rather than splashing out the cash once again this summer, Steve Bruce should look to bring back Crowley to Villa Park and be shrewd in his signings.

It is likely that Arsenal may not allow their player to make a permanent switch to another club but a loan deal could work out for both parties.

On one hand, Arsenal will have a player who would be growing and enhancing his skills whereas Villa could benefit from his quality in the final third.

Villa will have a tough challenge to earn promotion next term. They require extra legs in the squad and they need someone who can pick the ball up and play the right pass.

Albeit at the lower levels, Crowley has proven he can do that and players such as Scott Hogan would benefit from his qualities.
