Hibernian legend Peter Cormack believes Jason Cummings will thrive at Nottingham Forest.

Cormack left Hibs for Forest in 1970, and now Cummings is following his career path, by completing his own move to the East Midlands club on Saturday.

Cormack impressed during his spell in Nottingham, and he even earned himself a move to Liverpool, where he won two First Division titles, two UEFA Cups and one FA Cup.

Now the 70-year-old is tipping Cummings to replicate his own successes down south.

“I like Cummings, he’s an exciting player to watch, and someone who entertains the supporters,” he told the Scottish Sun.

“He’s a talent so I hope he thrives at Forest, and I think he will. It may be they try and change Jason as a player by asking him to play in various positions. To a certain extent that’s what happened with me in my career.

“But Forest is a huge club, and it will be like Jason’s playing in a cup final every week with the crowds they get at the City Ground, and away too.

“That will bring a level of expectancy and put him under pressure to perform, but that’s what you want as a player. I enjoyed that and I’m sure he will too.”

Cummings has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal and he arrives from the Scottish Premiership new boys for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old led Hibs’ promotion charge last campaign, as he scored 19 goals in 31 Scottish Championship games, and provided six assists too.

The Scotsman was key in his club’s run to the Scottish Cup semi-finals, as he bagged four goals in five outings.

Cummings broke into Hibernian’s first team mid-way through the 2014-15 season, and he went on to become the spearhead of the side’s attack, making 149 appearances in all competitions, which yielded 71 goals and 23 assists.

The physical front man has been capped eight times by Scotland Under-21s, but he has not featured since the 4-0 European Under-21s Championships qualifying defeat to Ukraine in September of last year.
