Bull offers his thoughts on Wolves new signing

|

Club legend Steve Bull believes Wolves’ new signings, Ryan Bennett and Roderick Miranda will “add competition” to the club’s defensive backline.

The centre-back duo are the first two signings for the club’s new manager Nuno Santo, who replaced Paul Lambert in the dugout earlier this month.

Bennett made the switch from Championship side Norwich City, while Miranda joins from Portuguese outfit Rio Ave a four-year deal.

They will be looking to bring quality and experience to a Wolves team that struggled to perform in the second tier of English football last season.

Former Aston Villa boss Lambert replaced Walter Zenga after 14 games of the recent Championship season with the club slipping down the table.

Nonetheless, the club’s record goalscorer, Bull offered his thoughts on the new signings and he is hoping they can bring success to the Midlands outfit.

“Preparations for the new season already appear to be well under way and two new signings have already been made in the shape of Ryan Bennett and Roderick Miranda,” Bull told the Express and Star.

“Both players will add competition to the backline and it will be interesting to see what kind of tactics Nuno intends to employ.

“Hopefully, the first two deals are a sign of things to come. Bennett is a player who knows the league well and could be a very shrewd acquisition on a free transfer. As with everything, it is all about finding the right blend.”

Bennett is the most experienced from Wolves new signings so far, with the 27-year-old having vasts amounts of experience in the football league.

He played 118 matches for Norwich, including 61 games in the Premier League and he will be hoping to be part of a team that makes a return to the top tier next term.

By contrast, Miranda has never played in England before but he has represented teams in Spain, France and his home country of Portugal.
