Tottenham could announce a major signing to accompany their new kit launch next month, according to Football London.

The Trinity Mirror football site claim the Premier League big hitters’ forthcoming kit deal with US sportswear giants Nike might explain why they have made a quiet start to the transfer window.

Rival clubs have already announced major signings, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool all securing their first new players for the 2017-18 season.

Spurs have been strongly linked with the rising stars of European football, with deals for Monaco sensation Thomas Lemar and Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon odds on with bookmakers.

Nonetheless, there has been nothing official and Football London report that the club could be waiting “to make a big signing announcement along with revealing their new kit”.

The north Londoners are in line to unveil their new kit at the start of July and it is said they will not be keen to unveil a big-name capture in a strip he will never wear.

Football site ESPN FC claimed in December that Spurs have sealed an agreement with Nike worth £150million that will come into effect from the start of next season.

It is said that the deal, clinched by chairman Daniel Levy, will replace the current five-year contract with Under Armour that is worth a total of £50million and expires this month.

ESPN FC report that the lucrative new package is worth three times the old agreement and will comfortably smash the Tottenham record.

It is not stated how long the deal will run for, although it says it will be comparable with Arsenal’s £30million-a-year contract with Puma.

Both kit agreements pale in comparison with those of Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Premier League leaders have a 15-year contract with Nike that is worth £60million annually, which is still some way short of United’s world record deal worth £75million-a-year with Adidas.
