Nottingham Forest have confirmed Jim Stewart as their new goalkeeping coach.

The 63-year-old will be reunited with Mark Warburton having both worked together at Rangers and the Scot will take up the senior role that has recently been vacated by Steve Sutton.

Forest announced the news in a statement on their official club website on Saturday.

Stewart spent almost ten years at Ibrox but was reportedly axed in March as Pedro Caixinha replaced Warburton in charge of the Scottish Premiership side.

Warburton worked alongside Stewart as he helped the Light Blues back into the top-flight of Scottish football and he will now join up with David Weir and Frank MacParland who were also a part of the Gers regime which fell to tatters earlier this year.

“I am delighted to welcome Jim Stewart as our new goalkeeping coach. Jim has a wealth of coaching and playing experience and has been heavily involved in the coaching education programme in Scotland at the very highest level,” said Warburton, as quoted on Forest’s official website.

Stewart spent four years of his playing career at Rangers and also had spells at Middlesbrough and Kilmarnock.

He was also a member of Scotland’s 1974 World Cup squad which included greats such as Billy Bremner, Sandy Jardine and Kenny Dalglish and is also currently a member of the Tartan Army’s coaching set-up alongside Gordon Strachan.

The Rangers drop-out will replace Sutton in the goalkeeping coach role after his City Ground departure was announced on Saturday.

Sutton had been a long-standing servant at Forest but his 11 year spell in the backroom staff has now came to an end as Warburton looks to make his own impact on the East Midlands outfit.
