Premier League duo Swansea and Brighton are set to rival Celtic in the race to sign KAS Eupen attacker Henry Onyekuru, according to a Daily Mail report.

The newspaper claims Brendan Rodgers is “mulling over” a move for the 19-year-old ace, while Swansea and newly-promoted Brighton have upped their interest in the player, with Arsenal eyeing a swoop as well.

It is said the fleet-footed winger has a £6.8million release clause in his contract at Eupen, which runs until 2020.

However, the report claims there are “concerns” about Onyekuru receiving the work permit he needs to play for a UK club.

Onyekuru has been in prime form for Eupen this term, and has scored 24 goals in his 41 league and cup appearances, as well as providing nine assists.

The report states his form has attracted interest from a host of European clubs, and among the teams to have made offers are: RB Leipzig, Schalke, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach, Lyon, Lille, Monaco, Nice, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Fiorentina and Roma.

Belgian giants Club Brugge and Anderlecht have also made bids for the 19-year-old, while the Mail previously reported Everton were interested in making a summer swoop for the player.

Onyekuru is primarily a left-sided winger, but he is also comfortable on the right, as a second striker or as an out-and-out striker.

He has also been included in Salisu Yusuf’s senior Nigeria squad, but he is yet to make an appearance for them.
