Port Vale manager Michael Brown reveals that he would like to sign Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker but he admits that the deal is “out of our control”.

The 20-year-old striker joined Port Vale from Forest in the January transfer window on a loan deal but he could not prevent them from being relegated to League Two.

Walker scored on his Port Vale debut in a 2-2 draw against Bury and he also found himself on the scoresheet a week later in the 3-2 defeat at the hands of Scunthorpe United.

The loanee striker picked up a serious knee injury in the 1-1 home draw against Bristol Rovers in February which ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

Speaking with the Sentinel, Brown spoke about potentially signing Walker and Derby County player Callum Guy next season, and he claimed that the decision is up to the players and their clubs.

“It is out of our control. It is whether players want to play in League Two and whether the club will let them come to us,” he said.

“But we would love to have the pair of them. Two new managers have gone in who will both want to see the players.”

Walker has spent his entire career at Nottingham Forest but he has spent the majority of his time playing away from the City Ground on loan spells.

The striker enjoyed his best playing spell at Forest during the 2015-16 season when he made 14 appearances in the Championship but his only goal came in the League Cup 1st round defeat against Walsall.
