Newcastle’s chances of signing Yann Karamoh have received a boost after it emerged that he will not sign a contract extension at Caen, according to SFR Sport.
The French media outlet claims the 18-year-old is expected to leave the club this summer after refusing to sign an extension on his deal, which enters its final year in June.
A talkSPORT report claims the Magpies one of four clubs interested in signing the player, along with Monaco, Fiorentina and Borussia Monchengladbach.
The youngster has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Caen this campaign and he has made 35 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring five goals and supplying four assists.
Despite being employed mainly as a right-winger by Patrice Garande this term, he is also able to play as a striker and on the left.
The 18-year-old has featured for France’s Under-16s, Under-17s, Under-18s and Under-19s, for whom he has made five appearances for, scoring one goal.
He has also been included in Pierre Mankowski’s Under-21s squad, though he is yet to play a game for them.
Karamoh helped Caen avoid relegation from Ligue 1 this term as the side finished 17th, one point ahead of Lorient in 18th.
