AC Milan have opened preliminary talks in a bid to sign Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, according to a Sky Sports journalist.

Sky Sports Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his personal website that the 20-year-old Frenchman is one of many attacking targets for the Serie A giants in this summer’s transfer window.

Di Marzio reports that initial contact has been made as Milan take the first steps in prising the rising star from Parkhead.

“Milan is set to give a makeover to their front line,” he wrote.

“In addition to a big name, with Alvaro Morata at the top of the wish list and Belotti and Aubameyang as the alternative, the club wants to sign a young player.

“There are on going contacts for Moussa Dembele.”

AC Milan have not enjoyed the best of seasons in Italian as they currently lie in sixth position and they have only scored 56 league goals – the second worst offensive record among all of the teams in the top half of the table.

The team from Milan are guaranteed a spot in the Europa League next season as they currently lead bitter rivals Inter by four points with only one league game remaining.

Dembele has been in outstanding form for Celtic in his first full season at the club since joining from Championship side Fulham last summer.

The French striker has scored 24 goals in just 38 appearances in all competitions and he played a crucial role in Celtic’s historic 38-match unbeaten season in the league.

Despite missing out on the final month of the season due to injury, Dembele could still feature in the upcoming Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon at Hampden Park.
