West Ham are being strongly tipped to sign Leeds striker Chris Wood in the summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

Sky Bet have placed the Hammers as the 7/2 second favourites to sign the 25-year-old, while Premier League rivals Stoke are priced the favourites at 5/2.

Meanwhile, Swansea (9/2), Southampton (7/1) and West Brom (14/1) are the outsiders to secure the forward.

However, the New Zealand international is odds-on at 8/13 to remain at Elland Road during next season and try help the club fight for promotion in the Championship.

West Ham are being tipped to sign prolific goalscorer Wood in the summer and he could follow in the footsteps of Sam Byram in making the direct switch from Leeds to the Londoners.

They signed defender Byram in January 2016 for and he has made 25 appearances for the Premier League side so far.

Wood is now being linked with a move following his sensational season, where he scored 30 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions.

The Sun have reported that the forward is a £20million target for a number of Premier League club’s, with Slaven Bilic’s side included.

Wood played a major role in Leeds’ fight for promotion this season and his side just missed out on the play-offs, falling away in the closing weeks and finishing seventh.

The Whites will be hoping to build on this campaign next year and manager Garry Monk will know how crucial keeping their star striker will be, but a huge offer of £20million could provide some reward.

He has had just a brief nine-game spell in the Premier League during his career and could now be given the chance to enhance his record.

West Ham may be looking to bolster their frontline this season as the likes of Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho are injury-prone.
