Tottenham target King wants Bournemouth stay

|

Joshua King has revealed his focus is fully on Bournemouth ahead of next season despite reported interest from Tottenham and other suitors.

The Mirror reported that Spurs are considering making a summer move for the 25-year-old and would have to cough up £15million-plus for his signature.

Meanwhile, the Northern Echo claimed that Newcastle are also eyeing up a move for the striker following their promotion back to the Premier League.

King has stated that he is flattered by interest from other clubs, but insists that he remains focused on Bournemouth ahead of next year.

“I cannot wait for next season to start,” King said, as quoted by the Daily Star. “I have enjoyed being here from day one. Being noticed by other clubs is positive but my focus is 100 per cent here.

“This is the first season where I have scored goals like this. Next year I need to prove myself and do it all again. I set myself a target of 15 goals at the start of the season and have been building my confidence. One you start scoring it builds.”

Spurs may be looking to bolster their frontline in the summer to provide extra support for talisman Harry Kane, with summer signing Vincent Janssen managing just six goals this season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be hoping they can compete both domestically and Europe next year, meaning they will need to bolster their squad.

Bournemouth ace King has been shortlisted as a potential addition and his form this season has been impressive.

The Norway international has made 36 appearances in the Premier League this season and scored 16 goals in return.

He is enjoying his best year to date in his career and is thriving under manager Eddie Howe, so it’s no surprise to hear he wants to stay at Bournemouth next season.

The Cherries are currently 10th in the league table and will be looking to end the season with a top half finish.
