Tottenham have initiated discussions with Juventus defender Dani Alves about a move to the Premier League, according to a report.

Yahoo Sports claim that that Spurs have held preliminary talks over a summer transfer to England and are looking to beat league rivals Manchester City to the Brazilian’s signature.

It is understood the north London club have proposed an initial two-year deal with an option of a third season to secure the South American sensation.

The report details that further talks are scheduled to take place after the Champions League final as Alves tries to help Juventus overcome defending champions Real Madrid.

Alves is regarded as one of the best right-backs in world football and is renowned for his blistering pace.

The 34-year-old is still has been in great form for Italian giants Juventus and has played a crucial role in their Champions League success this year.

He scored once and assisted twice during their semi-final victory over Monaco, proving his qualities going forward.

Alves is a serial winner and has been highly successful in European football, winning three Champions Leagues and six La Liga titles during his time with former side Barcelona.

The full-back is now reaching the latter stages of his career, but is showing no signs of slowing down and could be offered his first taste of English football.

Alves also has 100 international caps to his name for Brazil and would be considered a huge statement if Mauricio Pocehttino secured his services.

Spurs may need to enter the market for a new right-back as the Mirror reported on Wednesday that Chelsea have joined Man City in the race for the unsettled Kyle Walker.
