Tottenham could make a move for Bournemouth defender Adam Smith as Kyle Walker’s future remains in doubt, according to a report.

The Daily Mirror claim that Mauricio Pochettino is an admirer of the 26-year-old, who has enjoyed a strong season for the Cherries in the Premier League.

It is understood that Spurs could lose first teamer Walker in the summer as Manchester City circle for his signature.

The report details that Pochettino has been impressed by the performances of Smith and is considering the right-back as a potential replacement for Walker.

Smith is an attack-minded full-back that has made five assists this campaign in the Premier League, which is the joint-best statistic for a defender alongside Walker.

The Englishman has been an ever-present in Eddie Howe’s side and managed to help them stay away from a relegation battle.

He actually began his career at White Hart Lane as a youngster and made two senior appearances for Spurs, before eventually being sold to Bournemouth in 2014.

Smith has racked up 153 appearances so far during his Cherries career, but could be offered a return to north London.

Spurs do already have fierce competition for the right-back position as Walker and teammate Kieran Tripper contest the starting spot.

Pochettino insists that his full-backs work tirelessly throughout the 90 minutes and they have been a huge part of Spurs’ success this season.
