Ex-Leeds defender Ben Parker believes that Premier League clubs will be looking at Chris Wood in the summer and he would not be surprised to see £15million-plus offers come in for the striker.

The 25-year-old has been in sensational form at Elland Road and finished the season with 30 goals to his name across all competitions.

The forward led the line for Garry Monk’s side throughout the campaign and played a major role in their bid for promotion, despite the Whites falling just short of the play-off places.

He enjoyed his best season of his career so far and was shortlisted for the EFL Championship Player of the Year.

Parker expects their to be a lot of attention surrounding Wood’s signature in the summer transfer window, but urged Leeds to keep hold of their talisman to help them achieve promotion next season.

“Number one priority is keeping Chris Wood at your club,” Parker told Radio Yorkshire. “We bought him for £3million, well what could he go for now?

“I’m sure Premier League teams will be looking at him and rightly so. Even the guys that have gone up in Brighton and Newcastle they could easily throw £15million or £20million at this guy.”

Wood netted his 30th goal in the final game of the season on Sunday as Leeds drew 1-1 away to Wigan.

The New Zealand international has been the main source of goals for the Yorkshire club and Monk may be looking for some additional attacking support in the summer.

Wood managed 13 goals during his first season with Leeds and managed to improve significantly on that tally.

He moved to Elland Road for just £3million from Leicester in 2015 and his price tag has surely risen dramatically since.
