Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to blast Kris Boyd’s previous comments on Scottish football following Celtic’s win against Aberdeen on Saturday.

The Bhoys came from behind to win 2-1 in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park to secure the treble and end the domestic season without defeat.

And Sutton, a former Hoops striker who is very vocal with his support for the club, believes that Boyd’s claim that Scottish football is in the worst state it’s ever been have been proved completely wrong after a high-intensity match.

“Terrific final,” said the ex-Blackburn and Chelsea player on his personal Twitter account on Saturday.

“Aberdeen gave it a right go. Makes a mockery even more of Kris Boyd’s ‘worst standard ever’ comment.”

Boyd is a former striker for Rangers and the rivalry between the two forwards is proving to continue despite neither of them playing for the Glasgow sides any more.

Brendan Rodgers has blown away all opposition in Scotland in his debut season at the Parkhead helm.

He has been helped out by the signings of Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele and have not lost in all competitions to a domestic opponent.

Jonny Hayes looked to have ruined the party when he scored nine minutes into the Scottish Cup final on Saturday.

However Stuart Armstrong netted just two minutes later and, after a very exciting game, Tom Rogic found a winner in stoppage-time to secure the final piece of the jigsaw in Rodgers’ heroics.
