Kris Commons has revealed his delight on Twitter after playing his final game for Celtic in Sunday’s legends match.

Henrik Larsson’s Heroes took on Lubo Moravcik’s Legends at Celtic Park, as Swedish striker Larsson prolonged his iconic status in Glasgow by scoring a superb hat-trick in front of 60,000 fans as the Heroes won 5-2.

Posting after the match on his personal Twitter account, playmaker Commons revealed he had played his final game for the Scottish champions and was elated to do it alongside the “King” Larsson.

The experienced ace is not the only attacking midfielder set to leave Celtic, with Patrick Roberts set to return to parent club Manchester City on loan.

Commons, 33, failed to make a single appearance for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season, and instead was loaned to Hibernian where he made five appearances and scored two goals.

With his current contract set to expire in a matter of days, the former Derby and Nottingham Forest midfielder revealed that he had played his last game for the club in the form of the charity match.

Larsson’s hat-trick, as well as strikes from Stiliyan Petrov and Harald Brattbakk saw the Heroes score five times, while Commons and Moravcik scored consolations for the Legends during the match.

Moving north of the border from Derby back in January 2011, Commons has gone on to play 227 times for Celtic in all competitions, scoring 87 goals and providing 72 assists for the 48-time champions.

He picked up two Scottish Premiership winners’ medals as well as one Scottish Cup during his time with the Hoops.

A whole host of former Celtic stars featured in the game with all the proceeds raised going towards Celtic’s Foundation Programme.
