Scott Brown believes that manager Brendan Rodgers and his staff deserve huge credit in helping Celtic achieve a historic treble this season.

Celtic enjoyed Scottish Cup success on the weekend as they beat Aberdeen 2-1 at Hampden Park to win the competition for the 37th time.

Aderdeen opened the scoring in the first ten minutes of the game but Celtic responded with a goal from Stuart Armstrong before midfielder Tom Rogic scored an injury-time winner to secure Celtic’s first Scottish Cup win since 2013.

The victory not only secured Celtic’s first domestic treble since 2001, but it also meant that the Hoops remained unbeaten in the entire domestic campaign.

Speaking with the Evening Times, Celtic skipper Scott Brown pointed out that the team spirit and the togetherness of the squad were key in the club’s success this season.

“It is an unbelievable feeling,” he said.

“This is the best bunch of lads. We had a great camaraderie, we are so tight on and off the pitch, 24/7.

“The gaffer has been on at every one of us, there has been the sports science too this season and the assistant managers have made sure we have been ready and that we have given our best.

“But we have treated every game the same no matter who it was against. We have had the same mentality going into every one of them.”

Brown has been instrumental in the middle of the park for his side this season, making 54 appearances in all competitions and scoring a total of three goals.

The 31-year-old midfielder has now won 13 major trophies with Celtic since moving to the club from Hibernian in 2007.

This season has also seen Brown return to international football as he overturned his decision to retire at the start of the campaign and he has featured in two World Cup qualifiers this season.

Brown has been selected in the Scotland national squad to face England in a World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park on June 10.
