Rangers appear to have won the race for Aberdeen midfielder Ryan Jack, according to a report.

?HITC Sport claim that the Gers are in pole position to sign the 25-year-old in the summer on a free transfer, with his contract at Aberdeen expiring at the end of the season.

It is understood that Championship club Barnsley and MLS side Columbus Crew SC made offers for his signature, but he has decided to reject them and pursue a move to Ibrox.

The report details that Pedro Caixinha is set to be busy in the summer window and Jack is expected to be the first of many new additions to improve the squad.

The Aberdeen captain has been free to talk to interested clubs with his deal at Pittodrie coming to an end and has made his mind up to join their Scottish rivals.

Jack is a product of the Dons academy and has become an important first team player since making his senior debut in 2010.

The versatile midfielder has been a loyal servant to Aberdeen in recent years, but is now forcing a move away from the club to experience a new challenge during the peak of his career.

He has played an important role for his side this season during his 37 appearances and help them reach second in the league table.

Meanwhile, Rangers look set for a third-placed finish and have been below their pre-season expectations of challenging at the top-end of the table.

Jack could be competing alongside the likes of Jason Holt, Josh Windass and Jon Toral next season if he completes his expected deal to Caixinha’s side.
