Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama has claimed his club are building something “special” ahead of next season.

Spurs finished their 2016/17 campaign in style by thumping Hull City 7-1 at the KCOM Stadium.

Harry Kane bagged a hat-trick, while Dele Alli, Ben Davies, Toby Alderweireld and Wanyama were all also on the score sheet.

Speaking to the official Tottenham website after the game, the Kenyan said: “We are really happy to end the season this way.

“There is nothing to worry about, we are building a special thing. Hopefully come next season we will improve and be better.”

Spurs finished the season second-place in the Premier League, an improvement on the 2015-16 season, which saw the club finish third, as Leicester ran out champions.

It was also their best top-flight finish since 1963 and the first time they have finished above North London rivals Arsenal in 22 years.

It was Wanyama’s first season at the club following a £12million move from Southampton in the summer of 2016 and he impressed.

The 25-year-old was a key figure in Tottenham’s midfield  and he made 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals.

The tough tackling Kenyan had spent three seasons at St Mary’s before earning himself a move to North London and he made 97 appearances in all competitions during his time at the club.

Wanyama has 44 Kenya caps to his name and four goals, however he missed their 2017 African Cup of Nations campaign through injury.
