Tottenham Hotspur are favourites to sign Fulham wonder-kid Ryan Sessegnon, according to a Times report.

The newspaper claims the left-back can now sign his first professional contract having turned 17 on May 18, but he is yet to sign with Fulham, and Spurs are leading the race for his signature.

This comes after the Sun claimed Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was preparing a £12million offer for the starlet, with his club’s owner Daniel Levy keen to wrap up a deal for the player.

Sky Sport Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported on his personal website that Liverpool had opened talks with Sessegnon, and hoped to prise him away from Craven Cottage.

The 17-year-old has burst onto the scene this season by breaking into Fulham’s first team and making 30 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.

His efforts helped the Cottagers reach the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs, where they were beaten by Reading 2-1 on aggregate.

Sessegnon is primarily a left-back, but is also comfortable playing in a more advanced role.

He has featured for England Under-16s, Under-17s and Under-19s, whom he has made seven appearances for, scoring one goal against Luxembourg in a 2-0 European Under-19s Championships qualifier in November 2016.
