Tottenham have cleared the path for Newcastle to make a strong push to sign Burnley striker Andre Gray this summer, according to the Mail.

The newspaper claim Gray has been on Spurs’ radar but they are now weighing up alternative targets.

It is reported that Newcastle are still keen to take advantage of Gray’s contract situation as they look to strengthen their forward ranks in the coming window.

The 25-year-old is a player in demand, as his proven goalscoring in the Premier League and physical attributes make him an attractive targets for leading teams.

Burnley are aware they will most likely have to cash in on Gray this summer as he is entering the final year of his contract and can leave on a free transfer in 12 months’ time.

The Wolverhampton-born forward has showed in the past two seasons since joining from Brentford in 2015 that he can hurt Premier League defences.

The 25-year-old has scored 10 goals from 36 matches in all competitions this season, with nine of his strikes coming from 32 Premier League games, 26 of which he has started.

This comes after he was a prolific scorer in the Championship in 2015-16, netting 25 goals and supplying 10 assists from 43 league matches.
