Inter Milan are looking likely to appoint current Roma boss Luciano Spalletti as their new manager, according to a Sky journalist Kaveh Solhekol.

The Italian giants resolved Stefano Pioli of his touchline duties at the San Siro earlier in the month after taking over from Frank de Boer in November.

Ex-midfielder Stefano Vecchi has acted as the club’s caretaker manager, but it is believed Inter are looking to give someone more experienced the position.

This led to Sky Sports claiming on their website after Pioli’s sacking that Inter were set to fly to London to hold talks about prising Mauricio Pochettino from Tottenham.

However, Solhekol has now reported on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning that while Inter wanted Antonio Conte, Diego Simeone or Pochettino they are now looking like they are going to appoint Spalletti from close rivals Roma.

Tottenham fans will of course be delighted with this update as it should mark an end to the speculation of Pochettino joining Inter.

Meanwhile, it will also mean that the Argentine could have decided to stay in north London and given his success at Spurs fans will overjoyed.

Tottenham are keen to keep hold of all of their key personnel this summer, which includes Pochettino as they look to make an attempt at winning their first ever Premier League title next season.
