Liverpool fans on Twitter have hailed loan goalkeeper Danny Ward’s play-off final display on Twitter on Monday afternoon.

The 23-year-old Wales international has spent the season on loan with Huddersfield in the Championship with the Terriers managed by Jurgen Klopp’s close friend David Wagner.

It has proven to be a highly beneficial move for the emerging goalkeeper and he has featured in 46 matches for the Yorkshire club in all competitions, keeping 12 clean sheets while conceding 55.

His biggest performance came at Wembley on Monday for the play-off final against Reading and with the scoreline ending 0-0 after full time and extra time it was up to the young goalkeeper to prove himself in the penalty shootout.

Remarkably, Ward saved a penalty in the shootout that finished 4-3 to Huddersfield and he helped the Terriers make the Premier League for the first time of asking.

A number of Liverpool fans were also interested in his display and many on social media were please with what they saw.

Supporters were keen to hail him as better than current goalkeepers Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, while others were calling for him to be the club’s number one.

Ward has played twice for the Liverpool first team before in Premier League clashes against Bournemouth and Swansea, conceding four goals.

He will now return to the Reds this summer and see where his future lies with four years still on his contract for the Merseyside club.
