Everton manager Ronald Koeman has taken to Twitter to tease the supporters by telling them that “exciting times” are on the horizon.

The Dutchman guided Everton to seventh place in the Premier League in his first season on Merseyside and was celebrated its conclusion with a meal alongside his technical staff, including legend Duncan Ferguson.

Koeman has recently confirmed he was set to hold talks with Ross Barkley about his future at Goodison Park on Monday but nothing has come to light since.

However his latest cryptic post on his personal Twitter account could be a hint that something is in the offing that will certainly please the Everton fans.

“Celebrating a good season with the technical staff. Exciting times coming up,” he said on Monday.

Everton finished in a Europa League qualification spot thanks to their 61 points, although at one stage it looked as though they were making a late bid for a top four spot.

A slight drop in form and a 3-1 loss to Arsenal on the last day of the season concluded what most fans would regard as a solid showing from their squad over the course of the last ten months.

Koeman has taken charge of 41 games for the Toffees since replacing Roberto Martinez last summer, winning 18 of them.
