Defender Josh Kerr has made the switch to Premier League side Brighton from Celtic, it was confirmed on Tuesday morning by the official Brighton website

It was announced that the 19-year-old  had left Glasgow for the south coast for an undisclosed fee after failing to break into the Hoops’ first team.

The young right-back had been a part of the Scotland giants’ youth system for four years after joining from Hamilton in July 2013.

His contract was set to expire at Brendan Rodgers’ side at the end of the next month, but he has now agreed a fresh two-year deal with Chris Hughton’s Brighton, which is set to come into effect when the transfer window officially opens on June 10.

It is detailed that he will initially join the Seagulls’ Under-23s team and he will be hoping to eventually break into Hughton’s first team squad in the future.

Brighton are going into their first ever season in the Premier League and they will be scouring the market for players who they feel can help keep them in the top-flight.

Meanwhile, Celtic are solid at the back and have Cristian Gamboa currently occupying the right-back role while Rodgers may also look for further senior additions for the position as he looks to make progress in Europe next season.
