Newcastle fans don’t seem to know what quite to make of Aaron Mooy’s display for Huddersfield in their play-off final victory against Reading on Monday.
Australian television network SBS have reported that the Magpies have made a bid for the 26-year-old, who is currently on loan from Manchester City.
He played all 120 minutes of Huddersfield’s penalty shoot-out win over Reading at Wembley which saw them join Newcastle in the Premier League next season.
In what was a very drab affair, Newcastle supporters at least had the chance to watch Rafa Benitez’s transfer target and decide on whether or not he would be a good signing in the summer.
However the Toon Army have given a very mixed response on Twitter to the midfielder’s performance – with one fan saying that he is a ‘knock-off’ of Jonjo Shelvey.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
Would love for Rafa to jump in and quickly get Aaron Mooy signed up from Man City #NUFC

Aaron Mooy 26 – not exactly a #mcfc player for the future, suspect he'll get a permanent move somewhere this summer #htfc

SBS reports that Man City want £10million for Mooy, despite him never making a first-team appearance for the Premier League titans.
The central midfielder played in all but one of Huddersfield’s league fixtures this term and made a total of 51 appearances across all competitons.
Mooy was also a threat in front of goal, netting four times and supplying an impressive ten assists during his loan stint in Yorkshire.
He was also on hand to score Huddersfield’s penultimate goal in the 4-3 penalty shoot-out win on Monday.
