Gary Neville has grilled fellow Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carrahger on Twitter following his call-up to the Liverpool squad for a post-season friendly.

The Reds legend has been included in Jurgen Klopp’s 25-man squad for a post-season friendly against Sydney FC in Australia.

Carragher has been included alongside club legends Steven Gerrard, Steve McManaman and Daniel Agger, plus the rest of Liverpool’s first team.

The Merseyside club announced their squad list on their official Twitter account and senior players Philippe Coutinho, Emre Can and Jordan Henderson were the only notable absentees to miss the trip.

Coutinho and Can have both been omitted ahead of their respective international duty, while club captain Henderson continues recovering from a foot injury.

The friendly match will mark the club’s 125th anniversary celebrations and they have called up some former players to mark the occasion.

Carragher retired from professional football in 2013 after spending his entire senior career at Anfield and will get the chance to put the famous shirt back on.

However, Neville has reminded his colleague Carragher that he has constantly blasted the Liverpool defence as a pundit this season.

“Wow Jamie Carragher in the Liverpool squad. Gonna be awkward for you playing in that defence you’ve been slagging off all year,” Neville wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Carragher has become a well liked pundit for Sky Sports following his retirement and has often spoken very passionately about his former side’s defence.

Liverpool have never really been able to replace the centre-back following his departure from the game and have alternated between several defensive combination.

The Reds conceded 42 goals in the Premier League this season and that is a long way from a Tottenham team that conceded just 26, while they shipped 50 in the 2015/16 campaign.
