Manchester United want to buy Michael Keane back from Burnley.

According to a report in the Daily Mail injuries to Phil Jones and Chris Smalling have pushed the new England defender into Jose Mourinho’s thoughts.

United sold the defender to Burnley in 2015 for £2.5m with the defender now likely to cost 10 times that figure in the summer.

Although it would be quite a u-turn United do have a 25% sell-on clause in the contract which would effectively take the fee under £20m with Liverpool and Everton both linked to the defender.

Keane has had an outstanding season as Burnley survive in the Premier League for the first time and played for England in the recent internationals against Germany and Lithuania.

Jose Mourinho has been forced to step up his interest in defenders due to the injuries to Smalling and Jones with the reports he’s had on Keane convincing the United boss to make a move to bring the defender back to Old Trafford.
