In a mirror image of 2011 United have turned their attention back to Atletico with the 24-year-old Slovenian chosen to replace de Gea between the posts.

Oblak is in his second season as first choice keeper for Atletico and has impressed in high profile matches against Real and Barca as well as excelling in the Champions League.

Atletico have an £85m buy out clause in the keeper’s contract but United are confident of getting their man for less than that and staying in profit from the sale of de Gea.
