Manchester United are ready to pay £40m to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko.

According to a report in The Mirror the Monaco midfielder is one of Jose Mourinho’s top summer transfer targets.

Bakayoko has had an outstanding season highlighted by his performances home and away against Manchester City in the Champions League which included the match winning goal that took the French side through on away goals.

Mourinho has kept a close watch on Monaco and believes that Bakayoko can replace Michael Carrick in the United midfield and form an all French partnership with Paul Pogba.

Getting that area of the team right is critical for Mourinho who has decided not to renew Carrick’s contract despite 11 years of service since moving from Spurs.

Paris St Germain and Chelsea are also keen on the 22-year-old but if United can clinch a place in next season’s Champions League they will be favourites to snap up Bakayoko.
