Aldo’s despair

John Aldridge watched Liverpool lose to Leicester and despaired, again.

Since the turn of the year a season of promise has collapsed with a revival needed quickly if Jurgen Klopp’s side are to earn a Champions League slot.

Aldridge played in a side that never knew it was beaten with the local born striker knowing what results meant to the fans.

Down the years every successful Liverpool side has had a streak of steel through the centre with the current side falling well short in the eyes of diehard fan Aldo.

To me, Jurgen Klopp needs to change his transfer policy this summer,” he told The Liverpool Echo. “He needs to go after players with the aggression, the physicality and the character to cope with these demands. He needs players who can fight when the going gets tough. We simply don’t have enough of those type.”

With Jordan Henderson a doubt for the weekend visit of Arsenal it seems likely that Klopp will have to go in with the same side to face Arsene Wenger’s side.

Two wins in 12 matches paint a grim picture with home matches against Arsenal and Burnley offering little comfort after three back-to-back home defeats saw Liverpool dumped out of two cup competitions.
