Tottenham are set to step up their interest in Ross Barkley.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Mauricio Pochettino is determined to bring the Everton midfielder to London as he looks to further strengthen his squad.

Last week Ronald Koeman admitted that he’d have to sell the midfielder in the summer if a new contract can’t be agreed with the 23-year-old.

Despite talks on going with Romelu Lukaku about a new deal there has been little sign of discussions or progress with Barkley who has spent his whole career with Everton.

The lure of Champions League football alongside a strong core of England internationalists is bound to appeal to Barkley who fell out of favour at Everton before Christmas.

Despite making it up with Koeman there will be a question mark over the midfielder’s future at Goodison until a new contract is signed with Spurs waiting in the wings with a £30m offer.
