Sevilla have emerged as shock contenders for the signing of Alexis Sanchez.

According to a report in The Daily Star the striker would jump at the chance to team up with his former international boss Jorge Sampaoli who is in charge of the current Europa League holders.

With each passing week it seems less likely that Sanchez will sign a new deal with Arsenal with the player unhappy with the club’s trophy prospects as well as the new contract on the table.

Arsenal will almost certainly be forced to sell the striker in the summer if they can’t agree a new contract with Sevilla having the edge due to the Sampaoli link.

Manchester City and Chelsea would offer the 28-year-old the wages that he is looking for but Arsenal won’t sell Sanchez to another English club.

Juventus and Paris St Germain are among the striker’s admirers but with the player having a major say in his future Sevilla will be at the front of the queue for his services.
