Arsenal have been linked with an end of season move for Leon Goretzka.
According to a report in Metro the Schalke midfielder is wanted to add some steel to the Gunners midfield.
Goretzka has been in impressive form for Schalke as they sit in mid-term in the Bundesliga but with little prospect of earning a Europa League spot he’s believed to be looking to move on with wages in England now the highest in Europe.
The Bundesliga is one of the most heavily scouted leagues in Europe, with Goretzka out of contract next June Schalke are expected to sell the 22-year-old this summer.
After years of signing creative midfielders Arsenal had hoped that signing Granit Xhaka would make a difference but the Swiss internationalist has struggled to make an impact at the Emirates.
Xhaka could be moved on in the summer with Bayern Munich recently credited with an interest with the fee from his transfer used to bring Goretzka to London.
