Herrera in the dark over contract

|

Ander Herrera has revealed that he hasn’t had any talks to extend his Manchester United contract beyond next summer.

According to a report in the Manchester Evening News the club have still to open talks with the midfielder who has been a regular in Jose Mourinho’s side.

Herrera joined United from Athletico Bilbao in 2014 in a £29m deal but struggled to make an impact until Mourinho arrived.

This season the 27-year-old has started in 19 of United’s 24 Premier League matches as Mourinho has turned the club around and got them challenging for a Champions League place.

With his contract expiring in June 2018 the onus is on United to come up with an offer before he enters the final season of his deal.

United have been linked with some huge names in the summer but unless moves are made soon Herrera would be able to sign a pre-contract agreement allowing him to leave for free next summer or in a cut price deal this year.
