Keeper deal set to be extended

|

Manchester United are ready to extend David de Gea’s contract and give the keeper a pay rise.

According to a report in The Sun the keeper is under contract until 2019 but United have a clause in the deal that they can extend his contract until 2020.

De Gea seemed to be on the brink of signing for Real Madrid in 2015 but after technical problems he signed a new contract to stay on at Old Trafford.

Real have never dropped their interest in the keeper but have also been strongly linked with another former Atletico Madrid keeper- Thibaut Courtois of Chelsea.

United are well aware of Real’s interest but are confident that they can retain de Gea especially with Jose Mourinho turning around the club’s fortunes.

De Gea has been the undisputed first choice keeper at Manchester United since being signed from Atletico in a £19m deal in 2011 and has made almost 200 Premier League appearances.
